Here are two that keep me honest with myself:
You have the time to do the things you WANT to do. (I originally heard this from my college World History Professor, Dr. Robert Ruff)
&
If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse. (I attribute this one to my Wife, who often inspires me with her intelligence and wit (points?), and because she is the first person I’ve heard say it)
I present these as a pair because they fall from the same tree. The first phrase took a while to digest, because I wanted to argue with the premise. And, the second phrase compliments the first.
Both phrases are great barometers of your interest in something. These phrases are also brutally honest and blunt.
I use these phrases to help focus my efforts and to help me recognize and address friction points within my work.
What phrases have you heard that help you?
