Motivation

Charge your phone every day, or your battery dies

Posted by chris.dauphin

Maintaining motivation is a habit, like charging your phone. If you don’t do it every day, your battery dies.

Dictionary.com defines a habit as “an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary.”

Let’s unpack this definition.

An acquired behavior – meaning you are not born with this behavior, you have to work for it.

Regularly followed – it is up to you to have the discipline to develop a consistent routine.

UNTIL is the critical word in this definition. The fact is, something doesn’t become almost involuntary on its own, you have to regularly follow the pattern and continue UNTIL it becomes almost involuntary. There will be days when you feel unmotivated, and this is normal, especially early on in the process. But those are the days when you have to dig deep and push through, until…

It has become almost involuntary – Maintaining motivation isn’t about talent, it is about your mindset, determination, and consistency. If you can discipline yourself through practice and patience to keep a consistent routine, maintaining your motivation will become almost automatic.

Ok, that’s all for today. Good luck out there!
